5 out of 5 stars RDU   October 6, 2008

I am well pleased with this mower and highly recommend it. Before purchasing this mower I compared reviews for the leading cordless mowers and settled on this one due to its heavier construction. I was not disappointed. This mower is very sturdy which also means it is approximately the same weight as our prvious gas powered mower but the trade off is worth it in my opinion. It is sturdy, rugged, balanced and easy to handle. Previous reviewers stated it was louder than some electrics but again this has been a good trade off. The power is plentiful and it is much quieter than a similarly sized gas mower and no one hears it unless they are outside and near to the area being cut. For a time I had a concern about the run time (I never seemed to have a problem but my son could never finish both front and back yards on a single charge) until I discovered my 15 year old son used mowing time to continuing his texting with friends and tended to stop pushing often while continuing to run the mowers motor, once this obstacle was overcome the run time dramatically improved. One caveat about this mower (or any cordless), you have to prepare prior to mowing by making sure you've charged it. You must make sure you've charged the mower within a reasonable time before mowing for maximum run time. This may sound like a no-brainer but it takes a while to get over the old habits of the gas powered mower. Oh yes, it starts right up everytime, something the old mower seldom did.

5 out of 5 stars Two "green" thumbs up!   October 6, 2008

We bought our first house this year and had to get a lawnmower quickly. I hated the idea of having the deal with gas and pull starts, so we decided on the electric model. When I saw that they had a cordless, rechargeable lawnmower with already great reviews, I was sold. We've only had this lawnmower for a month, but so far it's absolutely wonderful. We have a corner lot, which means a decent sized yard, and this thing takes it all on with one charge. Two thumbs up!

2 out of 5 stars Don't dump your gas mower just yet   September 30, 2008

I really wanted o LOVE this mower. I do not. I have been using it for several months now. The first couple of mowings were great - the grass wasn't wet, or that long, and the mower was sparkling clean and the battery new. It sort of goes down hill from there. If your grass is wet FORGET IT - the mower doesn't have the power. If your grass is thick and just a little too long - you will be frustrated. The battery in mine seemed to be less powerful (even fully recharged) after only a few times using it. The rubber on the grip is great but so soft it will tear pretty easily. The flap on the back of the mower is plastic and mine was broken when the blade ejected a chestnut. The height adjustment is made to take the skin off your knuckles - watch out!

I hope a company like Honda makes a good electric soon because that's what I will replace this under-engineered mower with.

5 out of 5 stars Earthwise 20in cordless mower   September 14, 2008

Earthwise 20-inch
cordless mower: Cuts well, easy to start, takes a little getting used to. Comes ready to use out of the box. Very well engineered. Easy to recharge. Took 15-20 min. to cut about 2000 sq. ft. My husband and I like it.

Comments: Heavy for many to push on 5% grade or high thick grass. Instructions were not always instantly clear.

4 out of 5 stars Look Ma, No wires!!   August 27, 2008

I have had this lawnmower for about a month now and I am very pleased with its performance. I live in Savannah, GA and Tropical Storm Fay dumped plenty of rain here. I just cut the grass yesterday and had to do a short recharge to complete the last 1/4 of the lawn. I have a fairly large lawn and I find that I can complete the job on a single charge if I move at a good clip. I have had to cut the lawn while it is a little damp. The wet grass does build up under the deck and requires a good cleaning after use. I use my air compressor and a rag to do the cleanup. I would recommend this product to anyone looking to get away from the gas can in the garage. Time will tell how the battery holds up.
