Crib January 30, 2007 K. Stallone (Phoenix, AZ) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The crib is beautiful, the drawer below is the best. But the directions are terrible and it took us quite a while to assemble it.
exactly what we wanted. December 17, 2006 warhol 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
When we were looking for a crib, we wanted a bunch of things:
* something small, since our "nursery" is not very big (in fact, it's intended to be a laundry room); * a classy but simple design (Jenny Lind cribs look too utilitarian; sleigh-style cribs are more ornate -- and larger -- than we wanted); * a drawer underneath for storage; and * not too expensive.
The Roxanne Crib seemed to match all of our criteria, at least on paper -- but it's hard to know when you're ordering online and haven't actually seen the item.
We were very pleased with the crib when it arrived. It matched our expectations perfectly. It looks just like the pictures (which Amazon doesn't have, but you can find from other online stores). It's fairly sturdy, and it's doesn't give the impression of being cheap, assemble-it-yourself furniture. We're very pleased.
Assembly wasn't particularly easy or hard. The instructions were a bit confusing at times, but pretty much what you'd expect. ("Attach right drawer glide (J) to right headboard (G) using bolt (YY).") There were some moments of confusion -- trying to figure out from the illustrations which side of a piece is the inside or outside. I assembled a few pieces incorrectly, so I had to take them apart and redo them, but this is pretty much my usual experience with these things -- so I'll say that these instructions weren't any better or worse than they typically are. Everything worked out in the end, and it took maybe an hour and a half to assemble the crib.
And now we have exactly the style of crib that we wanted, at a very reasonable price. We're very pleased.
