The back of the cartridge has a truly innovative Precision Trimmer—a single blade built into the back of the cartridge, allowing you to easily trim sideburns, shave under your nose, or shape facial hair, such as goatees, soul patches, and chinstrap beards. A soft touch, secure handle that intuitively rolls through the fingers allows for an easy 180-degree transition between the shaving surface on the front and Precision Trimmer on the back. Gillette Fusion Power Phantom also contains a Flexible Comfort Guard that follows the contours of your face and pulls your skin taut for a comfortably close shave. Additionally, it features an Enhanced Indicator Lubricating Strip that gradually fades to white when you are no longer getting your optimal shave, so you always know when to change the blades. Inside the handle is an oscillating motor that delivers soothing micropulses, which help reduce friction and increase razor glide.

Also living inside the handle is the onboard microchip, which creates an entirely new platform of technology that improves the system's performance and brings electronics to wet shaving for the first time. The microchip serves three primary functions: It regulates voltage for consistent power, it controls the Low Battery Indicator Light, which alerts you when the battery runs low, so you always have power when you need it, and it powers the Automatic Shut-Off, which turns the razor off after about 8 minutes in case of accidental activation and protects the battery during travel.
